2008 Summer Camps for current 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
at Mercyhurst North East College Campus
NURSING ADVENTURES CAMP
is July 7 - 11 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Learn what it's like to give a shot, see what happens during a heart attack, visit hospitals, check out an operating room, work on computerized patients, take a health history from a resident of Parkside and find out what you need to do in high school to get into nursing. You will get a free set of scrubs, your own stethoscope, lots of materials and meet amazing people in the health field.
HEALTH CAREER EXPLORER CAMP is July 14 - 18 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Experience what it's like to be a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, a Medical Lab Technician and Nurse. See what diseases look like under a microscope, learn how to repair the human body, practice on real equipment, visit clinics and work on computerized patients and find out what you need to do in high school to enter a health care career. You will get a free set of scrubs, your own stethoscope, lots of materials and meet amazing people in the health field.
Transportation provided at designated pick-up and drop-off points. Lunches included.
Apply only if:
You are a current 6th, 7th, and 8th grader.
You can attend all five days
Your parent and guardian can attend an orientation session on either June 18th or 19th.
You can attend the graduation on the last day of camp.
If you are accepted, you will be asked to pay a $10 registration fee that your parent or guardian may bring to the orientation. Scholarships are available to waive the fee.
These camps are possible through the generosity of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, Regional Center for Workforce Excellence, Mercyhurst College and the Hirtzel Institute on Health Education and Aging.
